[Origin]
Zygoma, zygomatic bone; Liao, also known as 验, bone hole. The point is in the depression under the cheekbone, hence the name.

On the face, the outer canthus is straight downward, in the depression at the lower edge of the zygomatic bone. Equal to
Yingxiang (LI20).
[Anatomy]
- Muscles: origin of masseter muscle, middle of zygomaticus muscle.
- Nerves: Facial nerve, trigeminal nerve, infraorbital nerve.
- Vessels: transverse facial artery and venous branches.
[Manipulation]
Perpendicular insertion 0.5~1 inch. Moxibustion is prohibited.
[Efficacy]
dispelling wind, sharp cheek.
- Classical: crooked mouth and eyes, red face, red and yellow eyes, dizziness, twitching of the mouth and eyes, (out of page) swollen lips, inability to chew, toothache, and cheek swelling and pain.
- Modern: points for acupuncture anesthesia for trigeminal neuralgia, facial nerve paralysis, hemifacial spasm, craniocerebral surgery, and acupuncture points for maxillary tooth extraction.

- deviation of mouth: Quanliao (SI18), Yinjiao (GV28), Xiaguan (ST7).
- Toothache: Quanliao (SI18), Erjian (LI2).
- Red and yellow eyes: Quanliao (SI18), Neiguan (PC6).
