[Origin]

The cave is located on the back of the shoulder. Compared with Jianzhongshu (SI15), it is located outside, hence its name.

[Location]

Jianwaishu (SI14) acupoint

3 inches below the spine point of the first thoracic vertebra on the back (Taodao (GV13)), at the top of the scapula.

[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: trapezius, rhomboids minor. (The deep part is the lungs).
  • Nerves: accessory nerve, posteromedial cutaneous branch of the first thoracic nerve, dorsal scapular nerve.
  • Vessels: There are transverse cervical arteries and veins in the deep layers.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion or oblique insertion is 0.5 to 0.8 inches. Be careful not to insert deeply to avoid injury to the lungs and cause pneumothorax. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 5 times, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.

[Efficacy]

dispelling wind.

  • Classical: Pain in the middle of the shoulder blade, hot and cold to the elbow, stiffness in the neck.
  • Modern: cervical spondylosis, Laozhen.

  • Shoulder and back pain: Jianwaishu (SI14), Wailaogong (EX-UE8).
