Jianwaishu (SI14) acupoint

It is situated below the spinous process of first thoracic vertebra (
Taodao (GV13)), 3 cun lateral to spine, at the inner superior aspect of scapula.
- Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "On the upper edge of scapula, 3 cun from the spine, in the depression";
- Leijing Tuyi: "Level with Dazhu (BL11)".

- Muscles: trapezius, rhomboids minor. (The deep part is lung).
- Nerves: accessory nerve, posteromedial cutaneous branch of first thoracic nerve, dorsal scapular nerve.
- Vessels: transverse cervical arteries and veins in deep layer.

Perpendicular or oblique insertion is 0.5 to 0.8 cun. Exercise caution to avoid deep insertion, as it may injure the lung and cause pneumothorax. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 5 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 10 to 15 minutes.

- Modern: cervical spondylosis, stiff neck.
